Job Hazard Analyses name the hazards, the consequence, and the control. They are not procedures. Do the work to the SWP. WorkSafeBC does not mandate a JHA form — the Act requires workers to know the hazards. This is that document for crane and rigging work.
CCOHS treats JHA and JSA as the same method: break the job into tasks, identify hazards at each task, select controls in hierarchy order — eliminate, substitute, engineer, administer, PPE last. Residual risk is named. If a stop condition exists, the job does not proceed. Each row carries a severity badge. Extreme is reserved for the no-recovery killers — people under the load, MAD, overturn, a table over the edge. High is serious injury or a dropped load. Moderate is lost time or a failed plan. A tag line wrap is high. A boom in the MAD is extreme. They are not the same badge. Workers Compensation Act s. 21(2)(b) and (e). OHS Regulation Parts 3, 4, 8, 11, 14 and 15.
